Homemade Vanilla Extract Recipe!

It's as easier than you think! 

Learning how to make vanilla extract is the easiest thing ever. It requires only 2 ingredients and makes all of your baked goods taste and smell incredible. Homemade vanilla extract will be your secret ingredient for baking! Once you make your own homemade vanilla extract, there’s just no going back to the store-bought version. As a bonus, you can refill real vanilla extract with more vodka/bourbon as it runs out so it’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Vanilla Extract Ingredients: 

  1. VANIL A BEAN Extract Kit - Includes 10 Bourbon or Tahitian Vanilla Beans (250ml) or 20 Bourbon or Tahitian Vanilla Beans (500ml). 


  1. Wash and sanitise the bottle and lids. Using a little bit of soap with boiling water will do the trick. 
  2. Split the vanilla beans in half using a sharp knife. Always split lengthways to expose the all important vanillin content inside! 
  3. Place the vanilla beans into the bottle provided in our VANIL A BEAN Extract Kit and carefully pour in your preferred vodka or bourbon! 
  4. If you don't want to use alcohol, alternatively you can use vegetable glycerol to do the same job! 
  5. Use the air tight lid to secure the contents inside and store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight. 

Now that the vanilla beans are extracting into the alcohol, shake them once a week and use after 2 months at a minimum! We have found that storing it for uptown 6 months produces the best results, however you can always use it for your favourite deserts and top it up with some more alcohol or vegetable glycerol along the way!
